"Senior CoraAnn Marksberry waited impatiently Sunday night in the Student Center to sign up for the London Center Study Abroad program. Thinking that the Center for International Programs office wouldn’t open until 6 a.m. Monday morning, she arrived around 10 p.m. to camp out all night.
For spring, there are only 45 spots available in the London Center and 42 spots available in the Australia Center. The Center for International Programs was scheduled to open for sign-ups at midnight on Sunday.
“I will cry if I don’t make it because I don’t have anywhere to live next semester,” Marksberry said as she waited."
Picture Yourself in a Boat on a River . . . -

"Picture yourself in a boat on a river, with thousands
of pines and sapphire skies. Unlike the old Beatles song, this need not
be just a dream. For families seeking a dream-like vacation, there are
river trips in the Pacific Northwest that will leave you feeling recharged,
reconnected, and well rested. Imagine no loud noises (except for the periodic
rumbling of an upcoming rapid). Imagine the only distraction being whether
or not you should (go ahead!) have another piece of grilled salmon as
you sit with family and friends along a whispering, middle-of-nowhere
wilderness waterway."

"HOW
MUCH CANOEING EXPERIENCE DOES MY FAMILY NEED?
None. The beauty of the canoe is that paddling
can be easily learned. Guides and instructors will show you all you need
to know for a safe and enjoyable canoe/camping adventure.
DO
WE HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEARS OR WOLVES WHILE WE ARE CAMPING IN THE NORTH
WOODS OF CANADA?
While there is a good chance you will see a black bear and moose (from
a distance) and you will hear wolves howling at night, there is nothing
to worry about. Your guide will show you how to safely camp in the wilds
so that unwanted animal encounters will not happen."

"Since 2000, FAO has managed a yearly average of approximately 1 500 to 2 000 field projects with an overall annual delivery of US$ 350 to 400 million. About 10-20 percent of these are funded from the Regular Programme through the FAO Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) and the Special Programme for Food Security (SPFS). The remainder is funded from extrabudgetary resources.
Extrabudgetary funding (not part of the FAO budget)
Governments from developed and developing countries are the main contributors to FAO's extrabudgetary funding sources."
The Crystal Conundrum -

"If I were to ask a psychologist why crystal methamphetamine has a stranglehold
on scores of gay men, she might say that we battle a prevalence of depression
17 percent higher than the national average. A physician will tell me meth is
the most addictive drug ever to hit the gay party tableau, and because it releases
a flood of dopamine, the brain's pleasure chemical, its allure to our bacchanal
tendencies is especially strong."

"The rust-colored orang-utan flatly refuses to come down from his nest high up in the trees. He's been sitting up there for more than an hour eating some fruit, barely paying attention to his many adorning fans down below on the ground. This particular Borneo orang-utan is used to visitors coming to his home at the recently protected Sebangau National Park, located in the southern part of Indonesia's Central Kalimantan Province on the island of Borneo."
