"Mike Perry, Public Clinic Coordinator
L.L. Bean's, Freeport, Maine
The more people get out-of-doors and do exciting things like skiing, sea-kayaking, fly-fishing, and winter camping, the more likely they are to want to buy some equipment for those sports. That's the reasoning behind the clinics put on by L.L. Bean, the Maine sporting-goods giant, in which employees like Mike Perry teach prospective customers how to have fun in the great outdoors. Mike told us that his qualifications amounted to enthusiasm and "dumb luck -- I was in the right place at the right time." Even dream jobs have their shortcomings, though."

"Since 2000, FAO has managed a yearly average of approximately 1 500 to 2 000 field projects with an overall annual delivery of US$ 350 to 400 million. About 10-20 percent of these are funded from the Regular Programme through the FAO Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) and the Special Programme for Food Security (SPFS). The remainder is funded from extrabudgetary resources.
Extrabudgetary funding (not part of the FAO budget)
Governments from developed and developing countries are the main contributors to FAO's extrabudgetary funding sources."
The Crystal Conundrum -

"If I were to ask a psychologist why crystal methamphetamine has a stranglehold
on scores of gay men, she might say that we battle a prevalence of depression
17 percent higher than the national average. A physician will tell me meth is
the most addictive drug ever to hit the gay party tableau, and because it releases
a flood of dopamine, the brain's pleasure chemical, its allure to our bacchanal
tendencies is especially strong."

"The rust-colored orang-utan flatly refuses to come down from his nest high up in the trees. He's been sitting up there for more than an hour eating some fruit, barely paying attention to his many adorning fans down below on the ground. This particular Borneo orang-utan is used to visitors coming to his home at the recently protected Sebangau National Park, located in the southern part of Indonesia's Central Kalimantan Province on the island of Borneo."
