"GENE SPERLING: Nancy has continued the very unfortunate Washington tradition, Mrs. Clinton--or Senator Clinton, of people being much more impressed with consulting for the fake "West Wing" for two years over actually working in the real West Wing for eight years! [Laughter.] But let me just say a couple of things about today, because today is an interesting day. Today is actually something called Global Action Education Day. And I wear a lot of hats. One hat I wear is also being the U.S. director of the Global Campaign for Education."

"The baseball and softball teams now have their seasons underway. The fields are in relatively good shape and the typical bite of a Cook County spring is in the air. When I was a kid, staying warm during the spring was half the battle. After that, it was time to play ball and forget about everything else. Baseball On Tuesday, April 13, the Wrenshall Wrens came to town to take on the Viking baseball squad. The Viking team didn't hit the field looking to stay warm, they were red-hot from the start. Viking hitters put five runs on the board early in the first inning as the Vikings set the tone to start the game."

"It felt wrong to be spending so much money on a vacation only 20 miles from home. But considering the rising price of gas or the cost of airline tickets for four, a family getaway farther away wouldn't have been much more affordable. And, love it or hate it, Walt Disney Co. usually knows how to show young and old a good time. When it opened three years ago, though, Disney's California Adventure was a much-maligned theme park, with critics complaining that there were too few rides and attractions."

I'm so confused right now, staying in limbo.
I think I'm starting to get over Alexius. But I think it's too soon to say anything. I need something drastic to happen so I could prove it to myself that I am truly over him. Pathetic. I need to prove things to myself like this.
You know the photographer planning on taking my picture next Thursday? I once had a crush on him when I was younger, about 17. That's not too far away, and I think there's still a soft spot for him inside.
He said yesterday that I'm too holy for him. He might have to go church to make a confession if he holds my hand on the street. Like, ha. When was I ever holy? And all throughout the evening, he was hitting on me.

And there was this other guy.......... Maybe 2 other guys....

Yeah, I'm damn confused and I know I show it.
But aren't I always confused?
When will he ever come along and save me from this confusion of mine? "

Oh so much to talk about... woo.  I apologize in advance for the size of this.  Wait, no I don't.  I don't apologize for anything!  I did it!  HAHAHA!

Er.  Anyways.

Ok, Thursday.  I met Anne after her Survey of Asian Art class, and saw Marissa for all of five seconds... but what a fine five seconds.  Everything Anne has ever said about this woman is absolutely true...  wow.

We then met Dave and Marisa, and went to some restaurant who's name I can't remember.  The food was pretty good, but the best part was my fortune cookie.  "If you can shape it in your mind, it will come into your life."  So of course my thoughts immediatly went back to Marissa.  And Anne.  I'm just trying to help a girl out, you know?   Yeah... that's it... Heh heh.

Then we all took the L downtown, and since we had a bunch of time before the show, walked over to the Virgin Megastore.  Marisa was reading some book, Anne disappeared into whatever it was she was doing, and Dave and I looked at pornos.  Some of the titles were great, like "Let's Play Clit Hockey" and "Grizzly Madams."  I miss the days when porn attempted to have a plot... eveything now is just a compilation of scenes.  Boo.  Bring back cheesy plots and bad acting in porn!

Afterwards, Marisa took off, and Dave, Anne, and I got in line at the House of Blues for the Sugar Ray show.  We were the tenth people in line, since we were there about an hour and a half before the doors opened.  Some girl came around, asking for people's names and e-mail addresses for some Kia giveaway.  She got real excited when Dave told her his zip code, and she learned that he was from Buffalo Grove (as was she, apparently).  I thought about saying "Stop wanting to fuck Dave!" but I had yet to give her my name and get my free wristband, so I didn't.  Sorry Dave.  I swear I'll say it next time.

We got into the HOB and got a spot right up front.  We were about eight feet from the stage, and I got to be that tall jerk in the front, blocking everyone's view.  Hee hee.  The opening band was Tony C. and the Truth.  They're a pretty good blues-rock band, though it could just be that I like bands with harmonica players in them.  They had some pretty good original stuff, but the highlight of their set was this kick-ass cover of 'Fight For Your Right to Party'.  Halfway through that, they switched to 'Hot For Teacher", then back to 'Fight'.  It rocked.  Next came Lola Ray.  They were simply incredible.  They had to be one of the best bands that I've heard in a long time, and apparently, they have one hella hot lead singer.  He kept spasming all over the place, but damn did they sound good.  They're coming back to the HOB on May 15th, but that's ACEN.  Too bad; I'd love to see them again.  Then came Sugar Ray.  They opened with "Rhyme Stealer", which is just a great song.  In fact, their whole set was great.  I'm not as fluent in their catalog as Dave or Anne, but apparently it was a mix of songs from all their albums.  It was most likely the best show I've ever seen.  I'm so glad we went to that...

Afterwards, we went back to Marisa's to get Dave's car, and headed down to Chinatown (not to be confused with Funky Town).  For some reason, I began to get a nasty headache, Anne started to feel pretty bad, and Dave just crashed big time.  We went to Tea Leaf, turned around, and came back.  Overall, though, Thursday was a great day.

And now for Friday.  Friday Anne and I went to the fabric store to pick up some stuff for her tail, and then went to Dominick's for some ghetto pizza.  You know, for five bucks, that's some pretty good ghetto pizza.  We also got the new Sprite Remix Berryclear flavor, and it's like drinking candy.  It shall now be known forever as 'Candy Pop'.  I like Candy Pop, both the actual pop and the m-flo song (you have heard that song, right?  If not, go get it from that page I put up... the link is in a earlier post.  Go find it yourself).  We then went back to the apartment and watched the Cubs game.  God what a horrible game that was.  The home plate ump was so inconsistant with his strike zone that I think he was flipping a coin to decide balls and strikes.  Both Dusty Baker and the Reds head coach got tossed for arguing with Jackass McUmpire, the Reds coach over an obvious ball that got called a strike, and Dusty over what was deemed batting out of order, but in reality was Jackass McUmpire not having his shit together.  Damn, that was one long run on sentence.  Suck that, English language!  Anyways, we ended up winning by one run, but that was one painful game to watch.

After the game, we headed back to the 'burbs.  We stopped at Dominick's again to buy Anne's mom some flowers, and then I spent half an hour trying to hook up the TV/VCR/DVD/Surround Sound.  I think I got most of it done, actually... the surround sound confused me a little, since I'm a worthless human being with old crappy stuff, so I've never actually looked at one before.  I think I got it all together, though.  Go me!

Then we met Andrew and Rob at IHOP, and later Ryan and Eva joined us.  We had food, talked about stuff, and left.  Not a horribly eventful Friday, but it was still a lot of fun.

Saturday began with me running out to Gurnee and picking up Mike and getting my car washed, since it got horribly filthy from being in the city.  I hate it when my car is dirty.  Then we went and picked up Anne, and headed to Hawthorne.  We were on a mission for Cubs stuff, since for some reason I couldn't find any of my old stuff... not even a hat.  We went to Sears, and Anne bought this little kids shirt.  The lady ringing her up was like, "Is this a gift?  Are you a member of our Kid's Club?" and Anne says, "The shirts for me."  The lady got this funny look on her face, and I lost it.  I had to put my head down on the counter to avoid laughing in her face.  Then we walked around to every store in that mall that sold jerseys, and all they had were Maddux ones, or 3X Sosa ones.  I didn't want Maddux, and I didn't feel like swimming in a 3X, so we decided to check out Woodfield.  On the way out, Anne bought herself a miniskirt at JC Penney... she was concerned it might not be short enough, but Mike and I assured her it was nice and short.  Then we went to PetSmart, and Anne bought herself a collar.  I was kind of hoping the guy ringing her up would start asking about her dog, but he didn't.  Pity.  I wanted to laugh at him.  We then remembered Sportmart, and headed there.  No luck again...  We went back to PetSmart, then to the movie theatre to get Kill Bill tickets for later that night.

Then we went to Woodfield.  We walked around that place forever, and I finally found a Kerry Wood jersey in my size.  I bought it, since it looks sweet on me, and has half my last name on it.  You don't want to know what it cost, though... At least I'll have plenty of opportunity to wear it this season, thanks to the guy from work...

Next came Mitsuwa, and there was no one there.  I was sad, since I made sure not to wear my Zombie Bunnies shirt just so Dave could see that I do indeed own more than one shirt.  Oh well.  There's always next time.  We went to go see Kill Bill...  I liked it, but there was an awful lot of padding.  If they'd cut out just half of the footage of everyone standing/sitting in one place, not moving, staring at nothing... it would have been like half an hour shorter.  I guess Tarantino wanted to make people think they were getting their money's worth, or something.  Anyways, I'm sure I'll be buying the eventual box set of both volumes.

Then it's off to Denny's, where Anne and Weston talk about art the whole time.  It's interesting to listen to, and Mike keeps saying some really funny things under his breath.  I'd repeat them, but I don't remember what they were.  I then drop Mike back off at home, and Anne and I head back to the city.

Ah, Sunday... I'd been waiting for Sunday all week, since we got to go to the Cubs game!  We took the L down to Wrigley, and met up with Anthony (the guy from work with the tickets, not Anne's brother) and his girlfriend Sandy.  He gives us our tickets, and we go inside.  We meet up with Sandy's dad, who's the head of security there.  He takes us up to the control room, where they show us the cameras that they have all over Wrigley.  It's pretty cool... they can see anything happening anywhere in the park, and in the areas immediatly surrounding it.  Then he took us to some cafe thing, and bought us all lunch.  That was really cool of him.

Our seats were in the upper deck, about three-quarters of the way down the left field line.  Not the best seats I've ever had, but you could see the whole field pretty well.  There were these drunken morons behind us, and from listening to their conversation, I have no idea what game they were watching.  I swear one of them was yelling at Magglio Ordonez at one point (he plays for the White Sox, for you non-sports-knowing people).  It was a pretty good game, actually... Sammy hit his 513th and 514th home runs, passing Ernie Banks and becoming the Cub who has hit the most home runs ever.  Unfortunatly, we still lost.  Goddamned Reds and those stupid jerks Larkin, Dunn, and Casey...  oh well.

After the game, we split from Anthony and Sandy, and walk down Clark looking for a place to eat.  We have this problem with deciding what to eat, since neither of us care all that much.  We end up in this Italian place, and it's pretty good.  Then we head to the Metro to see Swizzle Tree...  I liked them well enough from the album I have, but that's nothing compared to them live.  Great set... there were three other bands, but we didn't care about any of them.  It's not like we paid to get in or anything.  Anne said 'hi' to the band and we head back to the apartment.

I leave, and head to my car.  I find the second thing that made me angry that night - a ticket.  Apparently, there was some cop just wandering down the street, looking for things to give people tickets for.  And since I don't have a front plate on my car (because it looks like shit with it on), I got a ticket.  It really pissed me off that the thing was stuck to my window for less than half an hour, and when I pull the ticket off, the glue and some bits of paper stay stuck to the window.  I try to scrape the things off, but the fucking crap just stays there.  Stupid Chicago cops and their Super Death Glue.
Even with the ticket, though, Sunday was a blast.  I'm sorry your first game had to be a loss, Anne... but I'm sure we'll have the opportunity to go see them again, and then they'll win.  It'll be sweet.

Phew.  What a weekend.  Then there was Monday.  I went to work.  Nothing happened.  Sigh.  Then I went to work again today.  I had another meeting with Shari, and I think she likes me again.  We talked about whitewater rafting for about ten minutes.  I then proceeded to do a whole lot of nothing much.  I hope the developers get around to finishing coding their stuff so I can do something at some point.  I'm so freaking bored.

Anyways, I'm tired of typing now.
