People sometimes ask me, "What is the Yellow Team?"
Briefly answered, the Yellow Team are four whitewater canoeing and outdoor enthusiasts who make annual expeditions to various locations within the United States.
The members are Joe Foote, Jeff Morgan, Ken Reinhart, and myself. We began doing this in 1991.
We usually set out in 2 open canoes weighed low by our gear, and paddle down rivers and across lakes. We usually encounter rapids along the way. We set up camp along our way. Sometimes we have pre-determined camping locations; but unforseen circumstances, such as tipping your canoe and drenching all of your camping equipment, can prompt on-the-fly changes.
When possible, we head to more challenging rapids without our gear in the canoes. We have used 17-foot aluminum lake canoes to negotiate class 4 rapids, which was not the smartest thing, but managed to make it through. We have negotiated many rapids backwards (as long canoes often get turned around on rocks), and find it quite fun. We have also destroyed two aluminum canoes over the years. Kids, river canoes are made for rivers.
We also jump into whitewater rafting from time to time, for less stress and more action. Last year was an all-raft-all-the-time expedition, with a new 4-man whitewater raft.
The Alpha canoe is manned by myself (front man) and Joe Foote (back man), while the Omega canoe is manned by Ken Reinhart (front man) and Jeff Morgan (back man). We maintain these general positions in the raft.
So that's the Yellow Team. There are some photos in the gallery.
