One of the fundamental things I got out of college (and the rest of your probably got in high school) was Bloom's taxonomy of learning
, which categorizes the levels of learning between following-along up to teachability. Yeehaw for cognitive awareness.
Which brings me to 'professional' blogging which is pointed articlelettes on something you've learned. (Or the opposite, 'personal' blogging, which are
pointed articlelettes on something you want to say.)
But strangely, my inspiration for this personal blog entry, is Maslow's hierarchy of needs. A scaled categorization of life fulfillment from Surving to Self-actualization. Yeehaw for self-awareness, obscured by cognitive-awareness.
I've finally setup a Profesional Blog. It's been a week (a long one, work-wise) and I haven't posted a thing. I'd like to say that I haven't high any high points with Bloom or Maslow, which seem to be a requirement for this. I'm worried I've dulled the points, and don't want to make any dull points.
American Dream'isms (gah!) and other non work-related activity have completely dulled the points of my personal profesional interests. I'm taking a week off to putter around the home in a few weeks. Boy am I looking forward to it. It scares me, as I might start to long for retirement, which is a monstrosity away and something I really don't ever expect to "achieve" and frankly hope I've self-actualized enough to be doing what I love until I transition to eternal retirement. But may be forced into due to unforeseen issues and by planning NOT to retire, not being able to..ack.
Anyway, I'm blogging (pretending to self-actualize) while I sulk over not being able to get cups/samba to setup my printer as a sharable/servered printer on Ubuntu. Wanting like heck to get beyond a "follow the directions" level of learning of Linux.
In other news, the retaining nut on both my sink's food disposal and my yard blower/vacuum's fan are gone. Replaced the first, Gorilla Glued the second, and Edubuntu rocks. My kids were enthralled, although besides pre-packed kidware, the other features were very obscure and required googling (as least path of resistance to doc's). I think it's those features which left off a PowerPC version, which was quite disappointing...as disappointing as no Flash plug-in for PowerPC linux.
I haven't quite figured out how to get the MP3 and DVD codecs installed, either. *sigh*
Wish I had a die-hard mac friend at work to tell me the relevance of Growl. Maybe I'll have some time to try it next week.

Nathan: For your vacation, I recommend a guided Kayaking tour. I've only done it once (3 hours max) but it was off the beaten path and a load of fun and relaxing, as opposed to something adrenalizing like whitewater rafting or something.
