"Sam Magarelli
Dealt a Harsh Injustice
In order to keep a certain powerful Republican in office,
the Republican majority gerrymandered a ghastly and
illegal new "superdistrict" -I would call it an
uberdistrict- for the Ulster County Legislature,
consisting of Woodstock, Saugerties and Ulster.
This has the impact of disenfranchising the Democrats
of Woodstock, who have almost a 3 to 1 edge over Republicans.
Sam Magarelli, in 1999, was the biggest vote-getter
in the old District 3, outpolling Ward Todd even.
Then came 2001, and they dished up a revolting dish
to Magarelli."

"If you listened to what University of Hawai'i sailing coach Andy Johnson said about his squad, you would believe the Rainbows could bring home as many as three national championships from the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association North American Championships at the Columbia River Gorge in Cascade Locks, Ore.
"Top to bottom, sailor for sailor, pound for pound, this is the best group of sailors ever assembled in UH history," Johnson said.
Johnson had high standards of comparison when he called this year's squad his best team ever. The Rainbow Wahine captured the ICSA women's title in Boston in 2001 and finished second in Honolulu in 2002."

""It's fun," said Karleen, whose father taught her to sail at the age of 5. "But using all the lines and learning what parts go with what" is hard.
The two were among hundreds of sailing enthusiasts who participated in the 40th annual Whiskeytown Regatta, held Saturday and Sunday on Whiskeytown Lake.
Sponsored by the Whiskeytown Sailing Club, this year's race featured 118 sailboats of all sizes, from the tiny El Toros to massive sailboats carrying entire crews, organizer Ann Reed said. Sailors came from as far as Nevada and Oregon for the regatta."

"Pick-up is scheduled for 0645 at the Asian Trails Bangkok office, Mercury
Tower, Ploenchit. However, the 24-seat air-conditioned bus makes a diversion to
collect two paying passengers, delaying the departure to 0745.
Our German-speaking guide distributes bottles of Asian Trails branded water,
a twice-daily feature of the four-day tour, before launching into a tour
orientation.
0900: Our bus arrives at Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom for a 45-minute
sight-seeing stop. It is a very quiet Monday morning with very few worshippers
and even fewer tourists at the chedi."

"(May 31, 2004) — In a workshop tucked in an unassuming storefront on Hudson Avenue, Stephen Haarstick stands watch as his employees pull triangles of fabric across the wide wooden floor and through huge sewing machines.
Stitched together, these triangles of fabric take shape to form enormous sails for some of the fastest sailboats in the world, making Haarstick one of the best-known names in sailing.
”Racing is a sport of skill and equipment,” says Haarstick, 62, a self-professed maverick in the sail-making world. “People want to win. It’s the same reason people pay $300 each for tires on a fast car."
