"Frozen in my seat, I firmly grasped the railing of the tiny outrigger boat that was taking us to a distant island. Angry waves lashed at our humble banca, splashing cold saltwater to our small group of nine. As another set of waves started tilting the boat, the boatman turned off the motor."

"Short news...12/18/03
DECEMBER 18, 2003 --
The latest career to go to hell as a result of Just For Feet is that of Jon Epstein. The very well respected shoe veteran, who recently resigned as head of Fila, was charged with one count of conspiracy to provide false statements to auditors and to falsify the books and records of Just For Feet, according to Alice Martin, US attorney for the Northern District of Alabama. He faces five years in jail and a fine of $250,000. He admits assuring JFF's independent auditors that the chain was owed $1.4 million by Fila. This is much the same as the charge made vs a former adidas exec in August."
Blue Lake: Taking the plunge -

"Gordon Harman
The Salt Lake Tribune
To get to Blue Lake from West Wendover, Nev., travel south for 15 miles on Alt-U.S. 93. There is a sign indicating the lake is to the east along a rough, washboard road. Travel on the dirt road for about seven miles. When nearing the lake, you will cross back into Utah. While a vehicle suited more to off-road travel is recommended, it is possible to reach the lake in a passenger car. Look for the "parking lot," a semi-flat, hard-packed area west of the lake. Once you have arrived, the nearest dive shops are in Grantsville or Elko, Nev. There are no services of any kind available at the lake."
Only divers seem to be taking care of Blue Lake -

"Many dive groups have contributed to the
site, above ground and beneath the surface. The metal sculptures
-- a scorpion, rhinoceros, hammerhead shark, turtle and praying
mantis -- were made by University of Utah divers.
Other items placed by divers include several
road signs, a mailbox, several boats, a mannequin and some anchored
air-filled PVC pipe used like underwater tricky bars. Near one
of the boats, there is also a television on a table with some
lawn chairs. Students practicing artifact recovery and the use
of lift bags occasionally move the sculptures to different locations
in the lake."
