Papercuts. Lots and lots of papercuts.
Thats what I get for a mornings work. My first day back after the passing of the lurgy and I was presented with all the materials necessary for a mammoth mail shoot. Still, at least I wasn't bored. There's something satifying about slapping stickers on envelopes too.
Adam T came over on tuesday to entertain me and provide me with minions. Yes, I now have 7 large duckies and 1 tiny one, currently residing in my bedroom. It was marvellous to see him again, after his prolonged absence from my life. We talked and talked and talked.
Went swimming with Hannah last night and just bobbed around a bit before deciding that exercise after three days with little food was just not going to happen. There was scuba diving going on in the diving pit, and deep water aquaaerobics in the flexi pool. The deep water aerobics is something I want to try, you get to wear little floaty feet! But you have to have completed the requisite shallow water buoyancy belt classes first. And annoyingly they run whilst I'm at work, grr.
Oh, and due to my insomnia, I've been busy.

April Fool's Day -

Gothamist considered a few options for this post, but decided the best we could do was revisit a post from one year ago: Hamish the British Scuba Dog. We hope to make Hamish an April 1 tradition. But here are Gothamist's rejected April Fool's Ideas:
- Kidnapping Thompson
- Only panda posts all day
- Embracing CSI
- Folding due to frustration over rabid commenters
- Announcing that we were moving to L.A.
- Giving up red meat
Gothamist doesn't have many April Fool's Day stories, because, well, we're getting fooled all the time. But if you've been fooled - or fooled others - tell us in the comments.
Michael Jackson is the most foolish American for the second year in a row today, followed by sister Janet, Martha Stewart, and Britney Spears (ladies, represent!). A little about the history of April Fool's Day. And Anil's plea for today ("Okay, DAD.").

"“We who
dive along the Kona Coast have seen a drastic and definite reduction
in our tropical fish populations over the past few years, due in part,
at least, to the tropical fish collectors’ increasing numbers.”
So says Dick Dresie, aka “Dick the Diver,” who conducts
shore dives at Hawaii’s most popular sites. His concerns are being
echoed by divers and conservationists worldwide.
Rene Umberger of Octopus Reef says “the entire southern Maui coastline
has been impacted by fish collecting (and run off), including Ulua Beach,
Makena Landing, and 5 Graves."

"This influence is perhaps most evident in the musical pulse of Puerto Rico, which includes the rhythms of Salsa and Merengue; the percussion-based Bomba and Plena; and the Danza classical waltz that originated on the island.
Handicrafts also reveal Puerto Rico's cultural roots. Colorful masks and figurines of "The Vejigante", a costumed character with Indian, European and African Roots, are prevalent at carnivals and during the Hatillo's Masks Festival, traditionally held in December."
