Curacao Trip, Thanksgiving 2004 -

We just got back from a trip to the Dutch island of Curacao inthe Carribean, spending Thanksgiving week with Denise's brother Dan and his wife Francelly. Dan works in the American Consulate on Curacao six months out of the year - bummer job eh? We arrived at night but in the morning got a breathtaking view of the Spanish Waters at Jan Sofat. Here are a couple shots off of Dan and Francelly's apartment balcony: We took a driving tour of the island, and on top of a huge bridge got a pretty good view of the main city of Willemstad: On Monday-Thursday, Denise and I were enrolled in a PADI Openwater SCUBA course, and after the day divided between classroom, pool, and the warm Carribean Sea, we were pretty much pooped all week long. One day though, Francelly took us down to Willemstad to shop and people-watch. Check out the tourists in the background - I think they thought the horizontal drawbridge was malfunctioning! We did go out to some nice restaurants. The most memorable was a horse ranch that only serves dinner one night a week, and you have to get there before 7pm to hope to get a table. You place your order for how many spits of meat you want, and go back to your table to talk and sip wine by candlelight. Then the bread arrives, and you watch the meat go into the fire. A while later, your spits arrive, the skewers hanging from a rack over your table. Finger food all around baby! Personally, I don't think I've ever eaten so much meat as that night. The beef was like nothing I'd ever tasted before - from Argentina, I'm told. Anyway, here is a shot of Dan and Francelly sitting across the table from us over candlelight, just as we were getting ready to peel ourselves from our seats. :) Did you know that every native on Curacao speaks four languages fluently?

"Honeymoon Party Theme - Honeymoon in Belize
A beautiful, tropical vacation is often the choice of honeymooners world-wide. When my brother, Evan, got back from a honeymoon in Belize, he said it was the ideal place to spend a relaxing, sun-filled vacation with his new wife, Hannah. They were married in May and visited Belize just before its rainy season (June-August). The subtropical climate remained at around 80 degrees, which was perfect for always remaining scantily clad.
Evan and Hannah stayed in a wonderful resort in Southern Belize."

"Mexico - Cozumel
Rental packages
Great Value!
Most condo prices are $699 per unit for a 7-night stay. Occupancy varies by property, but many can accommodate up to 12 people. See listings for details.
If you're a scuba diver, you have probably heard other divers talking about Cozumel in near reverential tones-and with good reason. Cozumel is a scuba diver's paradise, truly one of the best spots in the world. Jacques Cousteau himself thought so. Besides the abundance of colorful live corals and psychedelic-patterned tropical fish, it's the clarity of the water that makes this such an amazing spot."

"Before setting off in the hopes of becoming the youngest people ever to circumnavigate the globe by motorbike, Mark Beveridge, Stephen Crombie and Geoff Thomas saved money for years, received $1,000 worth of immunizations, took first aid courses and even practiced eating bugs.
The three native Australians used their financial backgrounds to help plan for the two-year trip around the world. Beveridge, 26, is a former business owner who served as the group’s logistics expert. Crombie, 25, had already traveled the world extensively but eventually returned home to Sydney in order to finish his MBA degree."
