More and more older people are skiing and it has nothing to do with snow and slopes this type of skiing stands for Spending the Kids Inheritance or SKI. "First charge deserves stiff consequence
By For what its worth
Tracy Hughes
Everyone has their hot-button issues.
You know, the ones that send blood pressure soaring and make your voice raise a decibel or two.
One of my hot buttons is drinking and driving.
In 1997, I was hit head on by a drunk driver after taking my dog to Herald Park for the first romp of the emerging summer season. It was a bad accident: cars were totaled, engines caught fire, two ambulances were needed.
A police officer told me later how lucky I was to have survived, saying when he first saw the scene he believed there would be a fatality."

"The pup showed up one day on the front porch, his mouth covered with porcupine quills.
We pulled those quills out of the half-grown dog and, with the coaxing of some food and petting, he quickly made the porch his home.
The mystery pooch that I later named Sterling, after a Green Bay Packer great, stayed around for 13 years.
I watched a TV show on dogs last week in which it was said border Collies don't make good pets because of their herding instinct. They have to be in control of the situation at all times, the expert said.
I had to laugh because that's pretty much the truth."

Outdoor exercise not just for summer -

"You'll want to make sure you hydrate as well, so bring a water bottle with you or wear one on a belt. You need just as much water in the wintertime as you do in the summertime. Winter apparel needs should include your basic polypro tights, jackets, gloves and hat; you actually lose 50 percent of your body heat through your head. Several specialty ski and running stores will be able to help you dress right for sub-30-degree weather.
Cross-country skiing is a one of the healthiest activities. It's low- impact, so it's easy on your joints."

"Suddenly a boarder bursts over the top of the ridge, grabbing a rail as he soars through the air, seemingly motionless. What seems like hours, but is in reality only seconds, later he slams the board back down onto the dune and accelerates down the slope. Shoop, shoop go the rails as he carves through the powder like a kid in a sandpit. Perfectly in control, board and rider are the epitome of grace, moving in harmony in the battle against the sandwell, that's what I'd hoped for at least."

"USSA and Tribune reports
South Lake Tahoe resident Joanie Anderson capped an impressive weekend at the World Junior Championships in Europe by taking gold in snowboardcross on Sunday.
Anderson's gold was the lone victory for the U.S. at the championships, held at various sites. Snowboardcross was held in Oberwiesenthal, Germany.
"Joanie was definitely the dark horse in the competition," said U.S. Snowboarding Assistant Coach Mike Jankowski. "But she won every heat convincingly - nobody was expecting her."
Less than 24 hours earlier, Anderson took part in the halfpipe competition. Zephyr Cove's Elena Hight was the top U.S."
